The Core of Literacy is Language Development

Updated: Mar 7

"The core of literacy is language development... How do children develop their language skills? By using them! All the time, and in a meaningful context. Therefore, a quiet classroom does not develop language. An environment where children's conversations center around scripted prompts or questions provided by a curriculum doesn't cut it either. The optimal way for children to develop language is through CHILD-LED PLAY where they can utilize and build their skills by talking and having conversations in natural settings."
